In ERT, the enzyme that is missing is replaced with a recombinant version of the missing enzyme. NAGLAZYME is a protein that is identical to the natural enzyme that is missing in MPS VI. NAGLAZYME reduces the GAG buildup that leads to MPS VI.1

In clinical studies, NAGLAZYME has been shown to help with endurance, which is a measure of how well your body can perform physicially. This means that once a week, you will go to a hospital or infusion center. For some people, getting infusions at home may also be an option. During your infusion, a doctor or nurse will administer NAGLAZYME to you through an intravenous (IV) line. The procedure usually lasts about 4 hours. The IV provides the enzyme directly into your bloodstream. The blood carries it to your body’s cells and organs to break down GAGs within lysosomes.1

References:

NAGLAZYME [package insert].
