How you take NAGLAZYME® (galsulfase)
NAGLAZYME is given by infusion. That means that once a week, you will go to a hospital or infusion center. At the center, a doctor or nurse will give you NAGLAZYME through an intravenous (IV) line. The IV gets the enzyme right into your bloodstream. The blood carries it to your body’s cells and organs to break down GAG.1
NAGLAZYME can’t be taken as a pill. Because it is a protein, your stomach would digest it before it could do you any good.
The infusion itself takes about 4 hours. You can use the time to do pleasant or useful things like read, play a video game, watch a DVD, or call your favorite people to hear about what they are doing each week. You will also need to stay a little while after the infusion is done to make sure everything is ok.
Every week that you go for an infusion helps keep more GAG from building up. So it’s important to go to every infusion appointment. (If you need help getting to your appointments, talk with your BioMarin BPPS advocate or your social worker.)
